How to make an Origami Shuriken (Throwing Star)

April 9th, 2008 by tmikuckis

The shuriken’s origin is from Japan, where warriors used this four pointed throwing star as a weapon. When people think of the shuriken, a ninja often comes to mind and for this reason the shuriken is sometimes called a ninja star.

Although it is hard to find an actual shuriken, it is actually possible to make this japanese throwing star from origami paper. The origami ninja star is not too hard to make, and you get a real cool result. After you learn how to make an origami shuriken you can throw it and it will actually fly; pretty cool, an actual functioning origami. So here is a video with instructions on how to make an Origami throwing star.

    Neat blog! =)

I think the video instructions are a great idea - v. helpful for folks to get started. I think sometimes it can be pretty intimidating to try and learn just out of books.
I’m going to try the moneygami sometime - What fun!
